Way back in the 1990s I went through a rough time because my interests were divergent with the “normal” folks . I have a lifelong interest in the paranormal, disasters, politics, and unexplained phenomenon. One night I could not sleep, and I was listening to WABC out of NY and heard a discussion on “red shift” during a discussion of astronomy (you can google it). I thought, who would be talking about this stuff? It was Coast to Coast AM hosted by Art Bell.
I was hooked. People wonder if we are “not alone out there”, often people wonder if they are “not alone here”. I was one of them. I unknowingly joined a community (more like a family) of millions. Before podcasting I would stay up late, especially for Friday night open lines. Discussions on ghosts, UFO’s, bigfoot were typical as well as interesting guests.
We lived the up and downs of his life as well as several retirements, tragedies, returns and triumphs. He eventually found a protégé in Heather wells on Midnight in the Desert, she continues his work, as well as scores of other radio hosts, bloggers, vlogers, and social media groups.
Thanks Art, for showing us we are not alone, and we have a lot more in common than differences. You will be missed. We will carry on what you started.
